Welcome to my blog, I've decided to share my adventures with you so you can see what I get up to.
Britain is just starting to thaw out following a day of snow. Lisa is away in Barcelona and I'm at home.
I've recently started flying lessons, tomorrow I'm hoping both the runway is clear and the weather is good. I've had a couple of no go's due to poor weather. This is frustrating but all part of flying in the UK.
Below is a photo from my first lesson in a Piper 28-180 with Take Flight Aviation in Wellesbourne. A great friendly club but with a few issues, they are lacking instructors (I cant train yet). They are also fighting to save the airfield following the landlords desire to turn it into houses... The local council are hoping to buy the airfield and hopefully they will stay on.
Instead I've decided to learn at Western Air at Thruxton, near Andover. This is much closer for me with more modern aircraft but it is a little pricier. WesternAir is more formal and has a more flying school vibe, rather than a community club which isn't a problem and hopefully means I can stay focussed on the flying.
I had my 2nd lesson with Bob Cole the CFI and a retired RAF pilot. He is friendly chap and makes you feel at ease. I also flew in a Cessna 172S with EFIS, so a modern high wing aircraft. Other than a poor seating position set by me, I loved the C172 even with the bump when we landed.
Next week I head off to sunny climes, with a work trip to our call centre in Manila, Philippines. I'll keep you posted over the next few days, fingers crossed we get lesson 3 in tomorrow.
